Piezo Ultrasonic Scaler

  • NEVER DROP or carelessly handle the handpiece, as you can easily damage it.
  • You must have a minimum of 20cc . per / min. of water flowing through the handpiece.
  • ALWAYS remember to check the wear on the scaler tips. More than 2mm. wear , time to change the tip.
  • NEVER use worn scaler tips and then turn the power setting way up over 70
  • The power setting usually is around 50 – 60.
  • If you have to keep cranking up the power the tips may be worn.

High Speed Handpiece

  • ALWAYS push the button on the back of the handpiece in all the way ( till you feel a click ). This is the same when taking the bur out and when inserting the bur. If you do not do this it will get stuck. ALWAYS put the bur in all the way. NEVER half way.
  • ALWAYS lubricate the handpiece before use, step on the foot pedal for 8 – 10 seconds to make sure the lubricant goes all through the handpiece.
  • ALWAYS use alcohol to clean the handpiece. NEVER use any chemicals or chlorine. NEVER put it in a ultrasonic cleaner.
  • Make sure you lubricate the handpiece BEFORE you autoclave it at 275 degrees for 15 min. NEVER autoclave the high speed handpiece with the bur inserted.
  • The high speed handpiece operates at 38 – 40 PSI running at 350,000 to 400,000 RPM.
  • When you screw the high speed onto the tubing from the dental station there is a small gap even after you have gotten it on securely. This is normal. Nothing is wrong with this.
  • NEVER run the high speed without a bur in it . You will damage the chuck.

Low Speed Handpiece

  • ALWAYS lubricate the handpiece before use, step on the foot pedal for 8 – 10 seconds to make sure the lubricant goes all through the handpiece.
  • ALWAYS use alcohol to clean the handpiece. NEVER use any chemicals or chlorine. NEVER put it in a ultrasonic cleaner.
  • Make sure you lubricate the handpiece BEFORE you autoclave it at 275 degrees for 15 min. NEVER autoclave the low speed handpiece with the prophy angle on it.
  • The low speed handpiece operates at 30 – 32 PSI running from a crawl to 5500 RPM.
  • When you screw the low speed onto the tubing from the dental station there is no gap like you will see on the highspeed handpiece.
  • NEVER run the low speed without a prophy angle on it . You will damage the chuck.
  • If Prophy Angle gets stuck on low speed, spray DCL 90 Cleaner Lubricant in bottom of prophy angle to help prevent it from happening again. NEVER use a defective / worn out prophy angle, as you could ruin the expensive low speed handpiece.

Compressor

  • ALWAYS drain the tank at the end of the day to get the excess moisture out.
  • ALWAYS check oil level when the compressor has NOT been running. It should be halfway up the sight glass in the back of the compressor. Check oil level regularly.
  • ALWAYS vent moisture trap weekly (while dental station is on) to keep the air going to the high and low speed handpieces clean. This will help to avoid regulator problems. Ensure that the station is on, and the compressor is fully pressurized, or this procedure will not be of any benefit.
  • ALWAYS change the oil once every year. ALWAYS clean the AIR INTAKE FILTER when you change the oil.
